As we prepare for our trip...

Preparations for the trip are well underway. After the meeting on Saturday, every team member is assigned a responsibility of some sort - fund raising, blog etc.

While Curt briefed us on ways we can conduct a lesson and Jan mother us with packing-lists and useful German terms, I begin to feel more and more excited about the trip to Germany. Things seem to be coming together and I truly thank God for blessing us with such a wonderful opportunity to not only serve but also to learn.

Furthermore, the retreat is coming up on the 25th of April, I am looking forward to a lot of useful tips from Dan on how to effectively teach conversational English! I pray that the retreat will not only prep us with the skills required but also bring us closer as a team, that we can shift our focus away from ourselves to our Heavenly Father and his plans for us.

On a side note, whenever I hear the word "retreat" , an image similar to the one above forms. However, I am pretty sure the retreat that is coming up will definitely be nothing like that - it is April in Madison after all. Hopefully we will get warmer days soon!

This trip does sound more and more exciting to me. I met the Baums in the summer of 2006 with their Turkish co-worker Memduh at Blackhawk Church. This year the Lord changed my heart to want to reach out to people who are very differnt from me. I hope to learn more about the worldview of Turkish people before I step into Duisberg, Germany. It seems to me the book, The Unseen Face of Islam, by Bill Musk is a good read for me.

I pray that we will work well as a team. Lord, please help me to accept every member of the team as they are, just like you accept me as who I am. This morning's message hited me hard. I need more of your grace as I get older. Help me to count your blessings every day and experience joy and peace in very little things daily.

Pray that the LORD's love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, so that Curt, Jan, Mei, Robin, Caitlin, and Shere-Ling may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blamless until the day of Christ, filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ-to the glory and praise of God.
